THE first libraries have been launched in children's homes across the borough after St Helens Council was chosen as one of only five authorities to take part in the national 'Right to Read' project.
The scheme aims to boost the opportunities of children living in care by providing books to cater for every age group and interest in a bid to promote the benefits and pleasure of reading.
Charlie Griffiths of the National Literacy Association delivered 50 books to each home in the town and St Helens Council has pledged to update and maintain the libraries as a lasting commitment to children in its care.
