AFTER reading recent headlines in the Bury Times regarding Bury Racial Equality Council I feel that this organisation is again in the news for all the wrong reasons.
My understanding is that this group is there to promote racial harmony. But for some reason it seems hell bent on dividing the community and causing confusion. Reported events, requiring the intervention of the police, suggest that something fundamentally has gone wrong with this organisation.
My advice would be for the local authority to cut their losses and to stop pretending that the REC is offering the residents of this borough a good service.
