REGARDING your 20/20 Vision article (LET, July 27) on Blackburn Council's targets for improving on the environment, I am pleased that our area is leading the way in the composting of household waste.

Hundreds of bags of the stuff can be seen rotting away in bin bags in every back street in the Davenport Road-Johnston Street district. It's been there for weeks and by now should be ready for the gardens.

We have just gained more bags of "compost" on the land opposite.

The back streets are the main problem now. These only get cleared every three months or so. I am sure this can be improved on.
