REGARDING your article 'Swings ruined in wrecking spree' (LET, August 1), has the spokesman for Blackburn and Darwen Council only just come to live in the area?
He said there is not a particular problem with vandalism at Whitehall Park in Darwen. How many times have the parks department had to refurbish or repair the seats and litter bins there?
The people who genuinely use the park have to sit on seats daubed with graffiti
A new metal fence was erected around the bowling green. It was not pulled down, but broken down by 'yobs.' The bowling green hut, re-roofed last year because of damage, has again had the tiles torn off and broken.
I feel sorry for Councillors David and Karimeh Foster, the number of times I have spoken to them, along with Darwen police, about the problems at night.
Come on, spokesman, wake up to the fact that there are problems in Whitehall Park. Don't try to hide it.
I NICHOLSON, Director, BEN Engineering Products, Whitehall Street, Darwen.
