I WOULD like to thank you for the coverage of Lancashire's draft waste strategy (LET, August 3).
As your editorial comment quite rightly points out 'We are simply not green enough' at present.
We have not shied away from any issues in our draft strategy. We realise the need for education and incentives to back up our aim of increased recycling with waste production levels pegged at current rates.
I want to emphasise that nothing has been decided yet. We are asking the people of Lancashire to give us their views. If anyone wants us to step up our targets on recycling and waste reduction, let us know.
For a copy of the strategy, please write to Draft Waste Management Strategy, Lancashire County Council, FREEPOST, (PR 844), Preston PR1 3BR, or visit www.lancswasteinfo.com
