GRAEME Souness today laughed off suggestions that he tried to sign French international Reynald Pedros.
The 28-year-old midfielder, who is currently on loan with Montpellier, claimed he had spoken to Rovers about a possible move last week.
But Souness said there has been no contact between the club and the player.
"If anyone from Blackburn has spoken to him then it's news to me," said Souness.
"I was in France last week looking at a game but it didn't involve Montpellier."
Pedros, who is close to tying up a deal with French side Metz, had been quoted as saying: "Yes, I have been in touch with Metz and it is a club that would interest me.
"However, nothing is set in stone yet and I have also had a chat with Blackburn Rovers."
Meanwhile, Souness has also shot down talk of a possible move for Celtic's transfer-listed striker Mark Burchill.
The 19-year-old forward is surplus to requirements at Parkhead.
But Souness won't be making a move.
