A TEENAGER found safe and well in London after being missing for more than eight weeks will not return home until "family issues" are resolved, police said today.

Ruksana Khatun, 15, of Accrington, was found at a hostel in the capital yesterday and is now being cared for by social services.

She returned to Lancashire with detectives from Accrington last night and they were due to interview her today.

Detective Superintendent Paul Buschini, who was drafted in to lead the hunt for the Hollins High School pupil two weeks ago, said: "We can confirm that Ruksana was found safe and well in London.

"A team of detectives travelled to the city yesterday to see Ruksana after inquiries led us to believe she was in there."

He added: "We would like to thank the media and the public for their help in tracking down Ruksana.

"We are all delighted that this case has come to a happy conclusion."

Ruksana was last seen on Saturday June 10 when, laden with bags, she boarded a Colne-bound train having bought a train ticket to London in Accrington.

She was seen later that day at Burnley Manchester Road railway station waiting for a train to York.

The National Missing Persons Helpline then launched a high-profile search for Ruksana in the south..

After Mr Buschini took over the case, Ruksana's father Abdul made an emotional appeal for people with information to come forward. Her mother has never spoken publicly about her daughter's disappearance. Police today said the family did not wish to comment.
