AN accountant has warned East Lancashire directors to be aware of their responsibilities.
Les Bury, partner at HLB Kidsons in Blackburn, said the number of directors being struck off was rising every year because of increasingly complex legislation.
"As anyone who is a company director will know it is not as easy as it sounds," he said.
"A growing raft of legislation as well as the sheer breadth of their duties has seen many committed directors inadvertently fall foul of the law.
"Many directors are not aware that although they are able to rely on specialist fellow directors or experts in carrying out their duties, if a problem arises with the individual or the advice they give, then the director will be deemed to have failed in their duties."
