A FACTORY where a 13-year-old boy was involved in a serious accident was today
set to face a prosecution under health and safety law.
The Health and Safety Executive has summoned Accrington Chair Fillings Limited, based at Pioneer House, Horne Street, to appear before Hyndburn magistrates.
The company is accused of failing to take measures to prevent access to dangerous parts of machinery.
In January this year police said that Asim Ali, of Richmond Road, Accrington, had gone to the factory to visit a 17-year-old friend who was in charge of the factory.
Asim had walked into a room where a machine was operating and his right arm became entangled in the machine rollers, up to his shoulder.
An ambulance was called and paramedics took the 13-year-old to Blackburn Royal Infirmary.
He was later transferred to a specialist unit at the Royal Preston Hospital, where surgeons managed to save the boy's arm.
