PRESTON'S Steve Robinson hopes he's earned his spurs for the next round of the Worthington Cup -- especially if North End draw Tottenham tonight.

The 25-year-old midfielder helped the Deepdale side to a 4-2 aggregate first round win over Third Division Shrewsbury last night and now harbours dreams of a trip to White Hart Lane.

"I was a trainee at Spurs, that's where I started my career. I always wanted to draw them when I was at Bournemouth so I wouldn't mind them in the second round.

"And Manchester United after that!"

Former Old Trafford trainee Jon Macken, who turns 23 tomorrow, scored his first hat-trick for Preston but Robinson was also aiming to make a big impression.

The Northern Ireland international was only making his second start of the season since his £375,000 move from Dean Court in the summer.,

But he's hoping he may have done enough to put himself in contention for a starting place against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

"I think I've done all right in the two games over Shrewsbury. Everyone was having a dig to try and get a goal, I had a few efforts but I think Iain Anderson had about 25!

"I have come in and obviously expected to play but it's a bigger club and the lads who have played have done really well."
