CUERDEN Hall will be under the spotlight next week as Sue Ryder celebrates its tenth anniversary.

As part of the celebrations, the Sue Ryder Foundation are trying to piece together the hall's history for a special open afternoon on Wednesday, September 20, starting at 2.30pm.

Over the past 300 years, Cuerden Hall, in Shady Lane, Bamber Bridge, has been home to evacuee children, an auxiliary hospital and an army base.

Helen Stansfield, fund-raising officer, explained: "We are trying to find people who have a story to tell about Cuerden Hall and would love to speak to anyone who has worked or lived at the Hall, or who knows something about its long and varied past."

She added: "We would like the open afternoon to be an opportunity for the local community to find out more about the history of the Hall, as well as finding out more about the work we do here for severely disabled and chronically sick young adults."

Anyone with any information about Cuerden Hall, or who would like to find out more about the Sue Ryder Foundation, should contact Helen on (01772) 627374.
