LEYLAND'S annual festival and children's summer playscheme will not be under threat as councillors review South Ribble's policy on outside organisations participating on the borough's parks and open spaces.
At a Cabinet meeting yesterday (Wednesday, Spetember 13) councillors agreed to the revised draft policy for outside organisations using the borough's parks and open land.
The review is part of the council's approach to continuous improvement and reflects recent changes in legislation, particularly in the area of Health and Safety.
The authority aims to encourage the positive and safe use of its parks and open spaces by outside organisations, for the benefit and enjoyment of the local community.
Councillor Howard Gore, cabinet member with responsibility for community services, said: "We are now going to consult with all our regular event organisers to obtain their views on the draft policy.
"Our main objective is to ensure that both the council and event organisers work together to provide the public with safe, well-run events."
