A PARADE of floats put together by community groups from across the Ribble Valley will process through the streets tomorrow.

Residents of Langho, Billington, Old Langho, Dinckley, Brockhall and York have been putting the final touches to their community millennium party this week.

The parade will leave Langho at 1.40pm and travel through Old Langho and Billington to St Augustine's RC High School playing fields, in Elker Lane.

At 2.45pm, Ribble Valley Mayor Coun Chris Holtom, will open the party.

Attractions include music from Clitheroe Town Band, line-dancing, Irish dancing and displays by the Accrington Majorettes and the Ossy Cloggers, welly throwing, tug 'o' war, children's races, bouncy castle, swing boats, fairground attractions, stalls, magician and clown and jester. Refreshments will be provided by members of the churches and the Women's Institute.

In the evening, there will be a lamb roast and barbecue, arranged by the Mytton Fold Golf Club, as well as a disco, line-dancing and a pub quiz, with refreshments being laid on by the Black Bull pub, Old Langho.

The Rev Steve Cooper, one of the organisers, said: "We anticipate a great day for the community to have fun and celebrate the millennium. Our thanks are due to the governors of St Augustine's RC High School for letting us use their playing fields and to the Millennium Commission for helping to fund the event."
