Lancaster City 1 Accrington Stanley 1
CITY did enough to win this Lancashire derby but had to settle for a score draw during an eventful night at the Axe.
They created enough chances to walk away winners, Myers missed good chances, Welch had a goal disallowed for offside and young Chris Ward nearly slipped a shot past on-form goalie Jamie Speare.
But they went into the lead after 27 minutes when a Mayers shot was blocked and Barnes picked up the rebound.
It didn't last long, with Stanley levelling the score five minutes later with a superb free kick.
Steve Hollis curled the ball over the wall and into the top corner from the edge of the box.
The visitors nearly snatched victory at the end when Carragher was gifted a free header but he turned the ball over the post.
