A BLACKPOOL primary school officially opened its new nursery unit this week giving 26 pre-school youngsters a reason to smile.
St John Vianney Catholic Primary School, in Glastonbury Avenue, built the nursery to cater for youngsters aged between three and five.
The unit was built because of a government initiative to encourage pre-school education, and took around five months to complete.
Headmistress Lynne Worden explained that there is plenty for children to do including playing with sand, water and even computers.
She said: "I am over the moon with the unit, and the children seem to love it. I am so pleased with the help and support from all the staff, who have selflessly worked at weekends and during holidays, and it makes me proud to be part of the school."
