A BLACKPOOL bobby who pedalled hundreds of miles raising money for a children's charity has been seeing where some of his hard-earned sponsorship money has been spent.

PC Andy Duncan, , who lives in Blackpool and is based at the motorway police station at Samlesbury, near Preston, cycled to Blackpool Victoria Hospital's Berry Ward this week to meet the staff and some patients, Andy is pictured on the left with Adina Kerbel, and her dad, David, who have benefited from baby breathing monitors and special chairs on the ward.

Andy was inspired to take to the saddle and raise money for the Children's Hospital Appeal Trust (CHAT) after he heard about the tragedy of a little boy who died after travelling to Leeds because a hospital in Stockport could not provide facilities for him.

He has cycled through Egypt and Israel raising around £20,000 for CHAT. And now he is busy cycling around the Trough of Bowland in his spare time preparing himself for his biggest ride to date -- a 300-mile journey through the Canadian Rockies over nine days next June.

IF you would like to sponsor Andy, or would like to join him on his ride, contact the CHAT office on 0161 276 8700.
