HILTON Dawson MP set out his vision for Lancaster while presenting awards to successful business students at Lancaster and Morecambe College last week.
Paying tribute to the work of the college, he drew attention to the vital work of further education to lifelong learning, and to the goal of full employment - a job for everyone.
Hilton spoke of the investment now flowing in to the city, the cranes and building work on various sites throughout Lancaster, and the recent 35 per cent reduction in local unemployment.
Claiming that "Lancaster is about to take off", he said: "I was delighted to present awards at Lancaster and Morecambe college on Thursday night. The people who received certificates at various levels in law, accountancy, business, personnel, management and other disciplines are central to Lancaster's new future as a place of growth, enterprise, full employment and prosperity."
