LANCASTER householders are being urged to join on the hunt for Britain's Best Neighbour in a national award scheme.

Betterware is looking for people in Lancaster who make a real difference to their neighbours lives, or who play an active role in the local community, often for little recognition.

Britain's Best Neighbour will win a £1,000 cash prize, an engraved trophy and a party for up to 50 people in the nations favourite pub - The Rovers Return at Manchester's Granada Studios. The party will be followed by a tour of Coronation Street and a chance to meet a top Coronation Street star.

The person who nominates the winner will receive £500 worth of Betterware goods for the home.

Betterware Chief Executive Liam Kane says: "We want to help put the community spirit back in Britain by acknowledging people who promote the very best family and community values and make a real difference to other people's lives."

Written nominations should be sent to: Betterware Neighbour of the Year, PO Box 7, Leyland, PR5 3GW.

Nominations should not exceed 100 words and include your details and the full details of the person you are nominating.

The closing date for entries is October 30, 2000.
