HOSPITAL transport managers have laid on coach services for staff who would otherwise struggle getting into work.

Staff from the Queens Park Hospital, in Blackburn, are being met at three pick-up points in the service which was launched today.

The service runs four times a day and picks up at Accrington, Darwen and Clitheroe and is part of a contingency plan put in place by the Blackburn, Hyndburn and Ribble Valley NHS trust in reaction to the fuel crisis.

Food rationing has also been brought in with visitors being refused food, saving it for patients and staff. "We are coping the best we can at the moment," said Mike Hill, operation services manager for the trust.
