A WOMAN was rescued from a burning house by firefighters.
They were called to the house in Coates Avenue, Barnoldswick, at 5.20pm yesterday after neighbours spotted that the front door was on fire.
Station Officer Ray Bowker, of Barnoldswick fire station, said: "The front door was locked so we went round the back and found the back door was barricaded from the inside.
"We managed to get inside the house and found the woman sitting in a chair."
The woman, who is 40, was led to safety and taken to Burnley General Hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation and other minor injuries.
The blaze damaged the front door and a stretch of carpet behind behind and caused severe smoke damage to the rest of the house.
The woman was arrested and is being detained at Burnley General for further treatment.
