FIRMS in East Lancashire are being urged to take advantage of a project to match them up with private investors.

The Techinvest initiative has already helped several firms in the area access new funds to develop their businesses.

And tomorrow firms and investors are being invited to the project's next meeting at the Park Royal International Hotel, Warrington. The organisation has also produced a newsletter featuring local firms.

"There is so much interest now from private individuals who are keen to get involved in the growth of North West companies that we have had to introduced a regular opportunities newsletter," said Vivienne Upcott-Gill.

"The newsletter provides outline details of the very latest opportunities as they arise.

"Business angels are characterised by their speed of response to propositions which fire their imagination and some of these new businesses are sure to do that."

The latest edition includes request for help from a young entrepreneur who has designed a new range of digital audio hi-fi products and a software company. Techinvest offers a package of services to help introduce business angels to firms. Investment opportunities handled include new and small businesses seeking capital investment of up to £500,000.

Since its creation in 1993 Techninvest has helped North West companies attract £10million in funding.
