Bolton 2, Portsmouth 0
BOLTON's dream start goes on and on and even Sam Allardyce is starting to wonder just what his team may achieve this season.
Their sixth league win in seven starts over Portsmouth courtesy of goals from Dean Houldsworth and Michael Ricketts means Bolton stand third, just two points behind runaway leaders Fulham.
A combination of Houldsworth and Ricketts was one of the most pleasing aspects on Saturday.
"They haven't had long in games together, but they are both very competitive and at times our attacking play is exceptional," said Allardyce.
"Both took their goals superbly well, in fact quality finishing won us the game."
Houldsworth struck just before half time chesting down a John O'Kane cross and slipping past Bernard Lambourde before screwing the ball into the bottom corner.
Ricketts then bagged his fourth goal in a week five minutes from time racing clear to beat Russell Hoult with a left foot drive.
