HOW would you like to spend some of your leisure time helping the people of Lancashire to feel safe, re-assured and involved?

Lancashire Constabulary is looking to recruit more special constables to help police the local area.

Divisional Officer, Ian Johnson, said: "It's a pastime that increases your confidence, teaches you new skills and develops your existing abilities. You would work alongside the country's best professionals in a job that is as unpredictable as the weather. One minute you could be rendering first aid to an injured person, the next arresting a thief."

The job is voluntary (you receive "out of pocket" expenses) and they are looking for people between 18 and 50 years of age, honest, physically and mentally fit, British, Irish or Commonwealth citizens with no criminal convictions.

If you are interested, write to Divisional Officer Ian Johnson, Special Constabulary, Morecambe Police Station, Thornton Road, Morecambe, or come along to one of the "open evenings" on Friday, September 29 at Lancaster Police Station. Or on Friday, October 6 at Morecambe Police Station.
