WELSH wonder Sion Jones powers up the lung-bursting 947-yard haul that is the Rake Hill Climb at Ramsbottom for a surprise victory.
It was the 21-year-old Denbighshire rider's first effort at the popular event which was held on Sunday.
His time of 2 minutes 39.9 seconds earned him the first prize of a Faustino Coppi "Torino" cycle valued at £600 donated by Geoff Smith Cycles, Bolton.
Hot favourite Jim Henderson, the national hill climb champion, ended up in fifth place after suffering a puncture early in the race the course.
