BURY North MP David Chaytor will be 'cultivating' an interest in local conservation issues when he visits Whitefield's Philips Park on Friday (Oct 20).
Mr Chaytor has been invited along to the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV) headquarters at the Barn Countryside Centre to view the work of dedicated volunteers in the Community Tree Nursery.
The team of volunteers grow more than 8,000 trees each year from locally collected seed. The trees are re-planted within the community.
Mr Chaytor will be presented with one of the trees to plant in his own garden.
The local MP will also be shown around the BTCV education centre were there will be demonstrations of the centre's alternative technology projects, including a wind turbine and solar panels.
New volunteers are always welcome to join: contact 796 6404 for details.
