PEOPLE with their sights set on a career in optical cabling technology will benefit from a new training centre.

Optical Technology Training said the new centre on Carleton Business Park, Skipton, together with two other existing centres a short distance away in Broughton, will enable 1,500 people a year train in data communications and fibre optic cabling.

Director Richard Ednay said the new centre, which is just a few miles across the Yorkshire boundary from East Lancashire, will take trainees from across Europe.

Existing customers include the National Grid, The US Department of Defence, and the Ministry of Defence.
