BURY will be looking to blast Notts County into their club record books for all the wrong reasons tonight.

Six home league games into the campaign, the Magpies are still looking for their first victory.

And should the Shakers pick up at least a draw at Meadow Lane tonight it would equal County's worst ever home start - a seven game run without a win at the beginning of the 1994/95 season.

They have to go back to March 21 for their last home triumph - an impressive 1-0 victory over eventual Second Division champions Preston North End.

But Shakers boss Andy Preece will be expecting his side to prolong the Midlanders misery further and bounce straight back after Saturday's 4-0 defeat at Millwall.

"Notts had a good start to the season but have drawn quite a few games recently," said Preece.

"They have a lot of experience in midfield with Ian Anderson, Gary Owers and Craig Ramage and Mark Stallard is a threat up front.

"It'll be tough but we're full of confidence despite the heavy defeat at the weekend.

"We're desperate to get back to winning ways."

There were slight injury doubts about Paddy Kenny, Sam Collins and Dean Barrick after the weekend but all three trained yesterday and will be okay for tonight.

And there's better news from physio Alan Raw's treatment table with Paul Barnes, Lee Unsworth and Darren Bullock all in contention for tomorrow's reserve game at Oldham Athletic (7pm). "It would be good to get all three back," added Preece. "Bully gives us that little bit extra but the lads who have come in, Martyn Forrest and Jason Jarrett have done really well.

"He may have to wait to get back in, we'll have to see how we go on in the next two games."

Preece admitted that former Shakers favourite Phil Stant, manager at Third Division Lincoln City, has been in touch regarding taking Barnes to Sincil Bank on loan.

After an initial approach Stant hasn't been back but the Bury boss doesn't rule out letting Barnes go to get some much-needed first team experience.

"Paul hasn't had a chance to get many first team games in with injuries this season," he said.

"But he's still a vital part of the first team squad and hopefully if he comes through in the reserves this week he can get back into contention for the weekend.

Preece is keeping his eye on a few strikers this week with a view to bringing one in on loan but doesn't expect anything to happen until next week.

"We need to make sure that we get someone we know will do a job for us," he said.

"We now have Lee Buggie back from Rochdale and he'll be looking to force his way into the reckoning too."
