A MUCH-TRAVELLED Blackburn father-of-three is thanking his lucky stars that he is safe and well this week following the Saudi skyjack incident.

Janaid Qureshi MBE, of Queens Road, regularly uses the Jeddah-Heathrow flight in connection with his work at Akzo Nobel -- in fact just three weeks ago he returned on the very same flight that was hijacked over this weekend.

Mr Qureshi, who is international controller at the Darwen company, said: "I fly between Jeddah and Heathrow every three months or so and took my last trip just a few weeks ago.

"I cannot believe that I could have been involved in an incident like this.

"I can imagine what the passengers must have gone through and I am so glad I was back home safe and sound instead of being part of the nightmare."

The London-bound Boeing 777 was seized by two hijackers as it left Saudi Arabia and forced to land in Iraq.

The two hijackers, who claimed they wanted to highlight human rights abuses in their own country, are being held in Baghdad.
