YVETTE Vanessa MacNeal went on a high-tech spending spree using other people's credit card details.

Blackburn magistrates heard that she ordered more than £4,000 worth of goods through Sky Digital's Open Interactive TV station.

And more than £1,800 worth was delivered to Pemberton House, Whalley New Road, before the thefts were discovered.

Macneal, 26, of Troon Avenue, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to six offences of theft and asked for 10 others to be taken into consideration.

She was remanded on bail until November 8 after the magistrates ordered the preparation of pre-sentence reports.

Elizabeth Reed, prosecuting, said that the channel allowed viewers to shop from home using the TV and a telephone line.

The purchaser would select the goods they want and enter their credit card details using the TV remote control.

All the property ordered by Macneal was delivered to Pemberton House where the owner of the TV set and digital box, a Mr Lathom, lived.

Mrs Reed said it transpired the credit card details had been obtained illegally.

Macneal originally said she had found the B & Q shop receipts which contained credit card details.

But it was later discovered that Macneal had worked as a cleaner at the store and all the credit card holders whose cards had been used had made a recent purchase at B & Q.

Mrs Reed said some of the property had been recovered but £1,334 worth was outstanding.

Stephen Parker, defending, said Macneal was a woman with a very limited previous criminal history.

She lived at home with her mother and had recently spent some time receiving treatment at Queen's Park Hospital.
