NIGHTCLUB boss Peter Clarke from Belthorn is lighting up the night sky as part of a £100 million plan to dazzle the clubbing industry.

Peter, originally from Oswaldtwistle, runs the Heaven and Hell clubs in Blackpool and Leeds, has pulled off a £100,000 deal to sponsor part of the Blackpool Illuminations.

The five-year deal gives him a 450 metre stretch of lights featuring angels and red devils leading from the town centre to the front door of his nightclub.

His section of lights will be switched on by pop band Westlife and has been logged with the Guinness Book of Records as the largest club sign in the world.

Peter also plans to open a new nightspot before Christmas, eventually bringing his total number of clubs to 48 in the next five years.

He said: "It's a fantastic concept that we've only just begun. I don't want to go into too much detail at this stage, but the next five years are going to be the most exciting for this company and I intend to make a very big difference."

The development plan will be privately funded, despite approaches from other large organisations.
