WIMBLEDON boss Terry Burton felt a poor refereeing decision contributed to his side's downfall as they crashed to their first home defeat of the season at Selhurst Park last night.

Burton felt aggrieved at the award of a first half free kick which led to Rovers' 22nd minute opener courtesy of a Chris Wilmott own goal.

"On night's like that, you hope the bits and pieces go your way," said Burton.

"I thought the referee was the opposite of a homer -- whatever that is called.

"It was never a free kick leading up to their opener.

"And as for the second, it was just a great strike. I don't think any goalkeeper in the world would have saved that.

"It was a surreal situation, really.

"You were sat in the stand and it felt like a testimonial game.

"Both sides passed it, there was very little going on and very little atmosphere.

"But that doesn't take anything away from the fact we lost 2-0 and it was disappointing.

"In the second half I thought we had the lion's share of the play but we didn't have enough cutting edge up front.

"It was all played in front of them, they defended aerially successfully, and we didn't have enough about us to get in and create something out of nothing.

"But our home form hasn't been that bad. That was the first time we've lost at home this season.

"We just haven't converted certain games into wins when we should have done. "
