A PINT-SIZED computer whizz-kid from Preston looks set to become the next generation of 'dot-com millionaires' after creating a database for hundreds of her prized Pokemon cards.

Ten-year-old Kim Barnes, from Albert Street, has staggered her parents and school teachers with her technical grasp of programmes -- even though she has only had a home PC for less than a year!

Kim (pictured) has spent hours designing an extensive database of nearly 200 Pokemon characters - detailing all their strengths, weaknesses and trading potential.

Kim, a Y5 pupil at the English Martyrs School, in Garstang Road, Preston, initially had a little bit of help from home-tutor Lloyd Martin.

And Lloyd, who now works as a computer teacher for NVQ Lancashire after being made redundant by BAE 10 years ago, has nothing but praise for his young protg. "She has done absolutely marvellous. Her parents as well as myself think she is brilliant," he said. "I've only been teaching her for less than a year and she has achieved a great deal in a very short space of time -- there's no doubt in my mind that she will go on to work in computers when she has left school."

Janet, Kim's mother, added: "We are all very proud of her and what she has achieved. We never thought she would take to it so well."

Kim, who has her sights firmly set on a dot-com career after leaving school, added: "It didn't take me that long really.

"The only problem I had was when my older sister Nicola kept wiping the stuff I'd done off the computer!"
