AN angry man pushed a council computer off a desk and kicked a glass door when he couldn't see a housing officer.

Burnley magistrates heard how homeless Sam Woodhouse, 21, then went to the police station, gave himself up and was arrested.

Woodhouse said to have "a degree of brain damage" was put on probation for six months. The defendant admitted damage.

Pat Bramley, prosecuting, said Woodhouse went to the offices of Rossendale Borough Council wanting to see a housing officer because he had nowhere to live. It was explained to him that he could not see anyone without an appointment and he then caused the damage.

When he admitted to police what he had done, he gave an "intemperate reply."

Bill Berry, defending, said when told by council staff they were not prepared to help him, Woodhouse became angry and frustrated.

He had only had £45 in benefits during the last month and needed to find accommodation.

Mr Berry added Woodhouse was currently on probation, had been breached and there appeared to have been a breakdown in his relationship with his probation officer.
