THIS could be your chance to have a say on how services are delivered in your area.

Residents of Blackburn and Darwen borough are to be asked to take part in a massive research project by the council, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and Blackburn with Darwen Primary Care Trust.

Market research agency BMG has been commissioned to carry out the survey which will focus on 1,100 homes in the borough.

Those chosen to take part have been chosen at random and are intended to be representative of the borough as a whole. They have been contacted by letter and market researchers will then visit peoples' homes and interview them.

Over the coming four weeks those taking part will be able to have their say on how these different agencies deliver their services.

The survey will ask people their opinions of refuse and recycling, public transport, leisure services, their neighbourhood, communications with the council, health services and the local fire brigade.

The research is being carried out as part of the requirements under the government's Best Value scheme, which is intended to ensure councils provide the highest levels of economy and services their budgets can afford.

A full report from the survey and its results will be published at the end of the year.
