IF the truth be known the Remembrance Day ceremony is little more than an exercise in hypocrisy.
Crocodile tears will be shed for the men, women and children who lost their lives in the world wars.
These victims did not give their lives for their country, least of all the children. Their lives were forcibly taken from them. Many people living in dire poverty in the 1930s had little reason to fight for their country and a life of poverty.
Winston Churchill talked a lot of rubbish about defending Christianity. At the same time he was sending bombers to burn alive men, women and children in their homes in the holocausts of Hamburg, Dresden and Cologne.
Churchill was no more a Christian than Adolph Hitler. He was quite prepared to lay down the lives of others to his own glory. There was nothing holy about the wars.
Self interest moves all men, Churchill was no exception. He kidded himself into thinking he was doing God's work like many other megalomaniacs who talked rubbish.
