The annual firework spectacular and beacon lighting will be held at Castle Hill on Saturday night.
This year there are themed events throughout the day including musical recitals, guided tours, guided walks, illustrated talks, and a rare opportunity to visit the City Museum.
There will be food stalls open early evening and the walks, and talks will be based around two millennium themes - Christian Heritage and Exploring Time.
Key events to look out for include performances of music in St John's Church and the Penny Almhouses' Chapel, an illustrated talk on local clockmakers at the Judges Lodgings, the Lancaster Time Tour and recitals of music at Lancaster Priory. The fireworks will be launched at 8pm and the beacon lighting will take place at 8.30pm. For information call the tourist information centre on 32878.
