WARRIORS played away at Haydock and in windy conditions lost 24-18.
But they were well in with a shout until the final minutes.
The Warriors were victims of their own mistakes.
Too many unforced errors and missed tackles in the first half let Haydock open up a 3-1 try advantage quite easily.
But Jim Johnson and John Cookson's (one try) superb tackling kept Warriors in the game.
The second period, however, was a completely different story.
Warriors began to threaten Haydock's line and came back well.
Dan Lofthouse, Sam Harrison and Mark Richards each crossed the line for tries to level the scores.
But this wasn't to be Warriors' day.
In a nail-biting final five minutes each side threatened. But it was Haydock who scored in the dying seconds to snatch victory.
