THORNTON CLEVELEYS SHARKS U9s 1 WYRE JUNIORS A 1

DESPITE the heavy going it was a well fought match with the Sharks missing some early opportunities. Wyre scored in the first half against Matthew Chippendale who was felling the cold. The second half was still a flowing game with both sides passing well. The Sharks had some good attacking moves with Sam Tittensor nearly scoring from the half-way line, not bad for a defender. Midway through the second half the Sharks equalised through one of Liam MacDonald's characteristic runs at goal. This equaliser made the scoreline reflect what was an evenly balanced match. Liam MacDonald was man of the match.

The Thornton Dolphins v Wyre Juniors B game was called off as the weather had deteriorated.

ANOTHER game of two halves with the bulk of the action taking place in the first half. Dane England opened the scoring for the Lions, Mark Lord bagged a brace. In the second half Wyre came on strong but found Matty Wood, Mike Woods and Harry Northrop solid at the back with Johnny Holding in fine form in nets. Ryan Holmes grafted well in midfield and provided Dane England with a nice ball for his fourth goal. Man of the match was Mark Lord.
