BLACKBURN boss Graeme Souness is tracking a couple of Scandinavian targets in a bid to beef-up his play-off chasing squad.

Ewood chief Souness flew to Norway on Sunday to watch a couple of players in action in the Norwegian Cup final, which featured Egil Ostenstad's old club Viking and Odd Grenland.

And, though no deal appears imminent, Rovers chief executive John Williams revealed the club are monitoring a couple of potential targets.

"Graeme is interested in a number of players from a Scandinavian country," said Williams.

"Nothing is moving towards any firm offer or bid as yet.

"But the season has come to a halt over there and there are two or three players our scouts are keeping an eye on."

Whether that interest develops into something concrete or not, Souness is clearly spreading his net far and wide in a bid to bolster his resources.

Last week, Icelandic international Tryggvi Gudmundsson (pictured) was invited over for a trial at Brockhall but had to be sent back because an injury prevented him from training.

Rovers are still interested in a possible deal for the 26-year-old wing-man, however, and he looks set to return once he is fully fit.
