THE bonfire has been built, the fireworks are ready to go -- all you need to make November 5 a night to remember remember is some delicious food!

Every fireworks party-goer needs a bonfire to keep warm on the outside and some good hearty food to keep warm from the inside.

Over the years certain foods have become bonfire night traditions -- there's nothing like a potato baked in the dying embers of your bonfire to keep the chills away and scrummy sausages are always a hit with the kids.

This week in Food News there's be a chance to put those traditional ingredients to some more imaginative uses and also try some new ideas to put a sparkle into your fireworks fun.

A hearty Bramley apple and sausage pasta dish will do a great job in keeping the shivers at bay as well as creating a satisfying supper dish for all your bonfire-loving guests.

The recipe's here . . . enjoy!

Potatoes are always warming and filling as well as being healthy and nutritious and once you have retrieved them from the embers of the bonfire (or from the oven if you choose the easy way out) top them with any number of tasty fillings for a super snack.

Low fat fromage frais and herbs or a tomato and onion salsa with fresh coriander both make healthy alternatives for those spuds.

And for a perfect bonfire night finale, why not try a delicious pud? There some more bonfire night magic with a recipe for a spectacular bonfire cake.

This is a marbled chocolate cake with a hint of warming citrus and decorated in a riot of orange, yellow and red icing to give a flame effect.

The kids will love helping to make it and the result is guaranteed to delight adults and children alike. For a Guy Fawkes treat you could even pop some sparklers into the cake as you present it for a dazzling finale.

And a final addition to fireworks fun would be an explosive cranberry punch to keep young and old alike warm and happy in front of the fire.

Cranberry experts Ocean Spray have come up with a great non-alcoholic punch recipe -- follow this easy recipe to success.

You will need 12 fl oz of cranberry high juice cordial, 30fl ozs of water, two sticks of cinnamon, six whole cloves and 36fl ozs of lemonade.

Just pop all the ingredients, except the lemonade, into a pan and bring them to the boil. Add the lemonade, reheat and serve.

What could be simpler for a spicy bonfire treat?
