DO you consider yourself another Eric Morecambe? Could you get up in front of a live audience and make 'em laugh? If the answer is yes, then Cleveleys comedian David Booth wants to hear from you.

David wrote to The Citizen asking for help in his quest to find a partner to form a comedy double act in the style of Britain's favourite pairing.

David, 56, was born in Cleveleys but has lived in Atlanta in America's south for the past 12 years. He said: "Unfortunately I have had to come home because my mother is very ill with Alzheimers disease and as my stepfather died last September there is no-one to look after her."

David has spent most of his life in variety and has made a career out of comedy, singing and acting, with a part in American TV series In The Heat Of The Night and various slots at cabarets, holiday camps and variety clubs over the years.

But his search for a new partner has proved fruitless, despite an advertisement in industry newspaper The Stage. David said: "I am looking for someone who is aged 45 or over, someone around my own age group. I have no 'act' as such for someone to walk into, because I feel the material comes from whatever chemistry there is."

David left Cleveleys 12 years ago to work in the Caribbean and on his way back he visited an old friend in Atlanta, Georgia. It was here he met his wife Norma, whom he lives with along with six stepchildren.

But he said he felt he had to return to look after his mother: "She is 84 and although she lives in Morvern Nursing Home in Cleveleys I cannot leave her on her own so my family are looking to find a house as we speak.

"I dearly want to get back to performing though and I am sure there is someone perfect out there."

If David finds a suitable partner to form a duo he hopes to arrange regular slots in and around Blackpool. Anyone who is interested in joining David can call him on (01253) 867842.
