RAMSBOTTOM United head for Clitheroe tomorrow hoping to get a game in after recent cancellations

The situation was compounded when next Tuesday's Floodlit Trophy game at Prescot Cables was postponed because the Mersey men are involved in a Liverpool County Cup fixture that had also been previously postponed and now takes precedence.

If the Rams do get the nod at Shawbridge, there could be plenty of North West Counties League entertainment on show as new signing Barry White is included in the squad and will be hoping to form a double act with Frankie Vaughan, signed earlier this season by United's impressario boss, Ken Bridge.

Ramsbottom will be without defender Dave Roche who has suffered knee ligament damage, which means United are down to two recognised centre halves in Mike Smith and Neil Wallace as skipper Warren Brierley is out for the season too with cruciate ligament damage.

Bridge is hoping to sign full back Phil Porter tonight. The Mossley right back lives in Heywood and could get a game, along with left-sided Mike Langhorn, who is available after recovering from a broken nose sustained a few weeks ago.

Ramsbottom's next home game is against Cheadle Town at the Riverside on Saturday November 11 (kick-off 3pm).
