THE second run in the Red Rose Cross Country League was held at Levershulme Park in Bolton.

With full squads in the Under-13s and 15s to choose from, Bury were able to field fiercely competitive teams against the other clubs.

A very wet and windy day did not deter the athletes from turning up to compete.

In the U-17s, only three girls were able to run, but that was enough to gain a great team result.

Two laps of the course in very difficult conditions for the girls, but they did Bury proud.

Heather Cox led her team-mates all the way until they came to the last lap of the field. Hot on her heels, Nicola Bott took over and stormed in to take second place overall, closely followed by Heather in third.

Danielle McDonald wasn't far behind in fourth and the girls achieved an excellent first team place.

The girls will be in action again on Sunday at Boggart Hole Clough, Blackley in the North West Women's League.

In the U-13s, Keeley Bulger again had a magnificent run, finishing in second place. Natasha McDonald, now showing form, was eighth, closely followed by Kirsty Morton in 10th.

Amy Chapman put in a good fight for the line and finished 14th and yet another gutsy performance from Laura Morris saw her take18th place.

Laura Little wasn't far behind, finishing 21st to ensure the team took second place.

In the U-15s, Danielle Sellars got another win under her belt, but was pushed all the way by team-mate Stacey Standring, finishing just two seconds behind her.

Alia Busaileh was next in for Bury. She found it a very tough race and finished sixth, closely followed by team mate Kerry Ebbrell in seventh, Rebecca Holt 11th and Leigh Morris 13th.

Excellent runs from all the girls gave them first team place.
