A WINDOW cleaner who fell from his ladder after suffering a brain haemorrhage has died in hospital.
David Bowman, 52, of Coleridge Street, Blackburn, fell 15ft onto stone flags at a house in Monmouth Road, Blackburn, earlier this week.
Doctors said he suffered a second brain haemorrhage on the ground. The owner of the house he was working at, care worker Joan Duckworth, gave Mr Bowman first aid and comforted him until paramedics arrived.
Mr Bowman, a fitness fanatic, was taken to Blackburn Infirmary where he was put on a life support machine. He died yesterday, two days after the accident.
His wife Marie, 45, said her husband was known on his round as Big Dave. He enjoyed the outdoor life and was a weightlifter in his younger days. The couple would have celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary next March. They had one son, Wayne, 18.
Mr Bowman, a former physical education instructor in the Army, was in the news four years ago after taking part in a 24 kilometre sponsored walk at Pen-y-Fan in the Beacons to raise money for the Alzheimers Research Trust.
His wife was too upset to speak about her husband's death.
