THE family of a teenager left "homeless" after floods devastated his Blackburn flat are furious that he has still not been re-housed.
Aaron Howard (pictured) has been forced to sleep on the floor of his father's flat since his home in Addison Close was deluged by dirty drain water over a week ago.
His father Tom, who lives in the flat above his son has been desperately trying to get the council to find Aaron a new home but feels he has been snubbed by officers.
Mr Howard said: "Aaron's home was left uninhabitable after floods on more than one occasion.
"He is basically homeless but there just doesn't seem to be any urgency to find a new flat for him.
"We have been interviewed by council officers who seem to think it might take a couple of weeks to find him somewhere else to live.
"I pointed out quite a number of empty flats in the area around me but the officers seemed reluctant to allocate one to Aaron. I know he can stay with me for the time being, but he is sleeping on the floor and it is not ideal.
"I just can't understand why the council can't find him emergency housing."
Ian Bell, housing community services manager for Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council said: "This unfortunate incident was caused by the collapse of a main sewer and made worse by the continued adverse weather conditions.
"The need to re-house Mr Howard is receiving urgent attention and we are looking to offer him another property on the same estate as soon as possible."
