BARNSLEY boss Dave Bassett was left cursing his luck after an error from keeper Kevin Miller put Rovers on their way to a sixth straight victory.

Miller had been outstanding until he let a Stig Bjornebye cross squirm out of his grasp in the 72nd minute allowing Matt Jansen the chance to cancel out Stuart Ripley's opener.

And Rovers went on to wrap up all three points when Miller was beaten again by a stunning David Dunn curler eight minutes from time.

"It's the way things are going at the moment. We're the nearly men. We nearly make it but never quite get there," said Bassett. "It was disappointing because, before they scored, I thought we were doing okay.

"We started apprehensively but then grew in confidence and got ourselves in front.

"But then we made an individual error which turned out to be monumental.

"You can't legislate for that -- it's individual things that just happen.

"Obviously, Kevin's disappointed. Nobody likes to make errors but, unfortunately for us, it put them back in the game.

"Even when we were 2-1 down, though, we hit the bar but you just need those little bits of luck at times. And, at the moment, we are not quite getting them."

Bassett was impressed with Rovers, however, and believes they have the wherewithal to push for an automatic promotion spot.

"Blackburn should be up there because they've got decent players," said Bassett.

"It's still open even though Fulham and Watford are doing well.

"It's certainly not finished and there's room for improvement.

"There's a lot of ground to be made up by teams but Blackburn are moving in the right direction."
