I CAN'T believe Eric Leaver (LET, November 8) is so out of touch with reality that he expects police officers to want to live on lawless estates and be on duty 24 hours a day, while fearing for the safety of their families when they are not there.
Police houses were fine in the days when villains said: "It's a fair cop, guv, you've got me bang to rights," but the world has moved on since then and the law now favours the criminal rather than the victim.
Bring back John Blunt -- he wouldn't have suggested such a stupid idea.
