Haydock Warriors U/16s 10 Folly Lane 14
IN this forward-orientated contest, Folly Lane reversed the score line from earlier in the season to snatch victory.
The Warriors got off to a good start and it was 20 minutes before Folly Lane could get out of their own half. Unfortunately, Haydock did not seize the opportunity to turn pressure into points.
Danny Gee opened the scoring for Haydock with Barry Kerkhof adding the conversion before Folly Lane pulled a try back.
In the second half Haydock managed to extend the lead with a Danny Gee try, but Folly Lane capitalised on the Warriors' generosity with the ball and went on to win.
Alan Pilling, deputising at hooker, took the Rekon man-of-the-match award, Danny Gee was the Craddock and Lamb top tackler and other good performances came from Barry Kerkhof, Andy Owen, Robert Kenyon, John Raw, Wayne Dollin and Alan Mason.
Haydock U/14s 36 Bury Lions 34
In a see-saw battle between two well-matched sides Haydock snatched victory in the dying minutes.
Tries came from D. Roblin, C. Houghton, S. Cargill, B. Barton (2), S. Jones (2) and captain M. Jones who also kicked two conversions and was voted man of the match by the referee. Coaches' man of the match had to go to the whole team as both old and new players were outstanding.
Haydock U/10s 12 Rylands Sharks 26
Haydock found it hard going against a strong-tackling Rylands side.
Tries for Haydock came from LPL Electrical Services man-of-the-match Joshua Jacksonand e Weaver Vale top tackler and players' player Joshua Glover who also kicked a goal. The other points coming from a conversion by Ryan Livesely, unsung hero was Scott Davies, with Joshua Taylor gaining the coaches' award.
Ince St Williams U/9s 10 Haydock 40
A hard fought game produced by both teams. One try from the man of the match Kyle Braithwaite, a try each from Aaron Lloyd and Scott Hale. Two tries each for top tackler Jordan Gibson, Nathan Halliwell and Josh Turner. Coaches award went to Gary Anderton with Michael Sexton most improved.
Haydock U/8s 16 Westhoughton 46
Against a much bigger team Haydock played very well.
Top tackler was Michael Jackman, who also scored a try. Most improved player was Ryan Plunkett, with Gary Whitley taking the coaches' award. Man-of-the-match was Dwayne Middlehurst. Top try scorer was Daniel Jones with three.
