FORTY-EIGHT visitors from Bury's twin town, Angouleme, recently spent a wet but enjoyable five days in the borough.
They stayed with local families on a trip organised by the Bury Metro Community Twinning Association.
The French party enjoyed guided tours of Bury and Manchester, as well as an all-day excursion to St Helens, where The World of Glass Museum was visited.
Ramsbottom Civic Hall hosted a civic reception and dance, attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Bury, Councillor and Mrs Bill Johnson, who also hosted a bonfire and fireworks display.
The visit also provided the chance to discuss forward planning with Angouleme: a teachers' visit to France is due to take place next year, and the regular adult exchange return trip takes place at the end of October.
