EVER since those ladies of the Women's Institute in Rylstone, near Skipton, posed in the nude for a fund-raising calendar, we have been exposed to acres of over-forties flesh imitatingly bared for similar purposes.

The latest is that of the middle-aged amateur actresses of Chorley's Little Theatre.

The novelty effect has, of course, long since disappeared -- in the same way that larky pub-goers having their heads shaved for charity is now more likely to elicit yawns than donations.

But what of the sensibilities of those of us who, though not prudes, are not delighted by the sight of 'mature' women in the buff? Glamorous it ain't.

Leave it to the Page Three bimbos, girls. Standards must be kept up, what?
